BUILDING ORGANISATIONAL EFFICIENCIES FOR SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES (SMES)

With a view to build organizational efficiencies for member SMEs, Bombay Chamber has undertaken a unique project from April 2014. It is supported by UKIERI (UK-India Education and Research Initiative). The project has UK Partner, namely Belfast Metropolitan College (Belfast Met). The initiative is supported by Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Queens University, Belfast.

The main objectives are :
Suggest and demonstrate business processes for strengthening SME members

  • Exchange of ideas and best practices with UK organizations
  • Stimulate interaction between SMEs and Colleges of Further Education from UK and India
  • Facilitate business opportunities for both SMEs and Colleges of Further Education from UK and India.

Four sectors have been shortlisted for the project. They are: logistics, agribusiness, healthcare and textiles. The Chamber expects to involve at least 100 SMEs and 25 large companies in this project. The Chamber is approaching many regulatory and development organizations for their support.

SME Members of Bombay Chamber will be trained to implement appropriate processes to enhance their bottom line and ensure sustainability in their business. It would also enhance quality standards amongst the supply chain vendors.

The project will help improve large members’ interaction with their supply chain vendors and get better services from SMEs. Improvement of processes in supply chain will help the large vendors to manage their business in a socially responsible manner.
